Weymouth Storms – Recent Pictures

Luckily Abbott’s Caravans have been unaffected by the recent spate of storms in our area of the South West. We do feel really sorry for those who’s homes and businesses have been devastated by the forces of nature. We have faced some disruption with road closures and high winds but our local newspaper and radio services have been great at keeping us all up to date. The Dorset Echo and the council website even have live updates.

If you’re like us, while feeling sympathy for those flooded out, you can’t help being awestruck at the shear power of the wind and waves. There have been many spectacular photos and videos appearing around the Web including a gallery of the storms from the Dorset Echo and this particular video of a wave coming over Chesil Beach at Chiswell, Portland.

Abbott’s Caravan’s own photographer, my son Derek, was out and about early this weekend and caught some of the action himself. See his pictures below.

We would, of course, assure you of a less wet and windy stay in our vans this coming season as the storms are at last said to be easing off. (The sun is shining today and it’s very mild for the time of year!)

Spring is Coming and We’re Ready to Go!

Abbotsbury Subtropical GardenSpring and the Easter holidays are an exciting time at Abbott’s Caravans. We often get families returning for a holiday or mini-break during the school holidays, but we also get many bookings for the summer so we’re always kept busy. My staff have done another fantastic job of preparing the caravans for the new season, so if your getting ready for your holiday with us you can be sure of a high standard of cleanliness and facilities. Of course you’ll also find Weymouth Bay Holiday Park have done their bit to make your stay enjoyable with the many activities, facilities and entertainment they provide.

Off the park a popular Spring Time visit for visitors to Weymouth is The Sub-Tropical Gardens at Abbotsbury. Abbotsbury village is a short drive or bus ride (X53) away along one of the most scenic coast roads in the country.  The Gardens are a mixture of formal and informal, with charming walled garden walks and spectacular woodland valley views.
